Why Choose Pet Ramps for Dogs
The purpose of getting pet ramps or pet stairs is to provide ease of access to your dog in situations where climbing, jumping, or carrying is not possible. Here are the reasons why pet ramps do a better job of improving access for your dog than dog stairs do:
Pet ramps are safer for dogs, and easier on the joints.
Stairs were designed for humans, not dogs. Steps that are too big for small dogs and too small for large dogs can cause falls: many a time I’ve seen my dogs miss a step when eager to get up and down the stairs. They also put greater impact and strain on the joints when your dog clambers up and down. In fact, many dog owners get dog ramps for stairs so that dogs can walk up and down easily and safely.
Pet ramps are more convenient to transport and store.
Be it a folding dog ramp or telescoping pet ramp, most pet ramps for dogs can be stored flat and occupy little space when not needed. Most pet stairs, on the other hand, are bulky foam pet stairs (even though some folding pet stairs are available).
Pet ramps are flexible for use anywhere.
Pet ramps are more versatile, simply by virtue of the fact that they can accommodate varying heights. Most pet ramps are made to be long enough to allow your dog to comfortably walk into a car boot/trunk, so heights around the house are not a problem.
Pet stairs, however, are of fixed height and you may have difficulty finding a set of pet stairs that are the right height for a specific location, let alone use them for different places in your home.
This means that pet ramps give you more value for money, which is why I always recommend pet ramps for dogs over pet stairs.
